Educational Qualification

Project Scientist-II (Medical): MBBS / BVSc / BDS with 3 years post-qualification experience, OR MBBS / BVSc / BDS with Post Graduate Degree (MD / MVSc / MDS / MPH), OR MBBS / BVSc / BDS with Ph.D.
Project Research Scientist-II & Scientist-I (Non-Medical): Post Graduate Degree (including integrated PG degrees) in relevant discipline, OR 4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / IT / Computer Science.
Project Nurse-II: Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or equivalent, OR ANM certificate, and registered as a Nurse / Midwife with any State Nursing Council.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit: Project Scientist-II (Medical): 40 years; Project Research Scientist-I & II (Non-Medical): 35 years; Project Nurse-II: 30 years as on the date of application. Age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, and PwBD candidates applies as per ICMR guidelines.

Selection will be conducted via Walk-in Interview on 14/10/2026 from 11:00 AM onwards at the New Born Unit of Pediatrics, Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh. A written test may be conducted if the number of eligible candidates is large.

Project staff engaged under the ICMR PRECISE study (Preterm or LBW Care through Early CPAP, Immediate KMC and MNCU, Antenatal Steroids and early Enteral Feeding) operate directly within the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Department of Pediatrics at Assam Medical College Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh. Project Nurses handle round-the-clock shift duties involving immediate Kangaroo Mother Care (KMC), Mother-Newborn Care Unit (MNCU) protocols, monitoring low birth weight (LBW) and preterm neonates on bubble CPAP, enteral feeding schedules, and clinical data logging. Project Scientists oversee implementation research compliance, clinical documentation, ethical clearance monitoring, teleconference coordination with multicentric nodal centers, and statistical reporting. Work is fast-paced, emotionally demanding, and clinical in nature.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Engagement is purely temporary, contractual, and co-terminus with the ICMR PRECISE project. Initial tenure is for a period of up to one year, extendable on an annual basis up to the project duration (maximum 3 years for 2nd & 3rd year positions, subject to availability of funds, functional requirements, and satisfactory performance evaluation). Under ICMR guidelines, total cumulative service across project human resource positions cannot exceed five years.

As a project-specific contractual engagement, there is no departmental promotion ladder or regularization into permanent government cadre at AMCH or ICMR. Pay Scale & Monthly Remuneration

Monthly consolidated emoluments plus 10% HRA as sanctioned under ICMR sponsored project norms. No PF, pension scheme, LTC, or medical reimbursement admissible.
