Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

Treatment Organizers (उपचार संघटक) in BMC's Tuberculosis Control Division function as vital frontline field personnel under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP) across municipal wards in Mumbai. Stationed at ward health offices, municipal dispensaries, and peripheral health posts, Treatment Organizers are tasked with tracing TB patients, supervising Directly Observed Treatment (DOTS) compliance, conducting contact tracing in high-density urban slum clusters (such as Dharavi, Govandi, and Kurla), monitoring multi-drug resistant (MDR-TB) regimens, and updating the Nikshay digital portal. The role requires daily field visits, shift duties, active patient counseling, and strict infection control adherence in urban community health settings.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

The appointment is purely contractual for a duration of 178 days (from 05.10.2026 to 31.03.2027) or until regular appointments are filled, whichever is earlier. Contractual appointees must execute an agreement on a ₹500/- stamp paper. The engagement confers no seniority, preference, or right to regular municipal service and may be terminated without prior notice upon arrival of regular recruits or administrative necessity.

Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

As an extramural 178-day contractual posting, there is no formal departmental promotion ladder. However, serving on the frontline of Mumbai's municipal TB elimination machinery provides valuable public health clinical field experience and grants 10 bonus marks weightage in subsequent BMC health department recruitment drives.
