Educational Qualification

Educational Qualification: Must have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC (10+2 / Pre-University Course) or 3-year Diploma in Commercial Practice or equivalent.
Technical Qualification: Must have passed Junior Grade Typewriting examination in BOTH Kannada and English conducted by the Karnataka Department of Public Instruction (or equivalent recognized board).
Computer Proficiency: Working knowledge of computer operations for day-to-day court administration is mandatory.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Minimum age is 18 years as on 06.11.2026. Maximum age limits (including one-time 5-year relaxation under Govt. Order DPAR 262 SENENI 2025 dated 29.01.2026): General Merit: 40 years (35+5); Categories 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B: 43 years (38+5); SC, ST, and Category-1: 45 years (40+5). Further relaxations apply for Ex-Servicemen, Widows, and PwD candidates as per KCS (General Recruitment) Rules, 1977.

Direct recruitment under the Karnataka Subordinate Courts (Ministerial and Other Posts) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules, 2021. Candidates undergo a 15-minute dictation and typing test in Kannada and English on computers fitted with simulated typewriter keyboard software. Each skill test carries 100 marks (minimum 50 marks required to pass in each). Eligible candidates are shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio based on the total aggregate percentage obtained in the qualifying academic exam (PUC/Diploma) and the Typing Skill Test. Shortlisted candidates appear for a personal interview carrying maximum 5% marks of the qualifying test. Final merit list is formulated based on combined academic, skill test, and interview marks following roster reservation.

Appointees join the ministerial judicial cadre of the Principal District & Sessions Court, Bengaluru Rural District, operating from the City Civil Court Complex, Bengaluru - 560 009, as well as outlying taluk courts across Bengaluru Rural District (Devanahalli, Nelamangala, Hosakote, Doddaballapura). Typist-Copyists (Nakalu Beralacchugararu) are primarily entrusted with typing certified copies of judgments, depositions, evidence orders, charge sheets, plaints, and daily cause lists in both Kannada and English. Work requires high typing accuracy, bilingual keyboard fluency (Kaveri/Nudi layout), and familiarity with the CIS (Case Information System) judicial software under the administrative guidance of Sheristedars and Judicial Officers.
