Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

Process Servers (Adesha Jarikara) are vital frontline judicial field officers in Karnataka Subordinate Courts. The core responsibility involves delivering and serving legal court processes including summons, notices, warrants, and subpoenas to litigants, witnesses, and government authorities across the jurisdiction of Bengaluru Rural District (comprising Bengaluru North, Bengaluru South, Hosakote, Devanahalli, Doddaballapura, and Nelamangala taluks). Work involves daily field visits on two-wheelers, obtaining legal acknowledgments or executing spot mahazars, followed by filing verified service reports (Affidavits of Service) to court sheristedars and judges. The job offers high job stability under permanent state government service, fixed working hours, but requires extensive local travel and dealing with evasive parties in civil and criminal disputes.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

Appointed in the judicial establishment of the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Bengaluru Rural. Initial postings are in City Civil Court Complex, Bengaluru or Taluk Judicial Magistrate courts across Bengaluru Rural district. Selected candidates undergo a mandatory 2-year probation period under Karnataka Civil Services (Probation) Rules, 1977. Inter-district transfers within the subordinate judiciary are strictly restricted except on mutual or administrative grounds as per High Court of Karnataka cadre guidelines.

Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

Process Server is a pivotal feeder cadre within the ministerial services of Karnataka Subordinate Courts. With qualifying departmental service (usually 3 to 5 years) and clearing prescribed departmental examinations (Accounts Lower / Kannada Language Test), Process Servers are eligible for promotion to Bailiff, followed by Junior Assistant (Second Division Assistant / SDA), Senior Assistant (First Division Assistant / FDA), and Court Sheristedar.
Crucial Application Warnings & Eligibility Traps

Avoid common application rejection triggers, photo/signature guidelines, and certificate validity windows.

  • Mandatory 1:25 Shortlisting Gate: Entry to the 10-mark interview is strictly based on the SSLC / 10th standard percentage. Candidates with low SSLC percentages may not receive interview call letters despite applying.
  • Driving License Preference: A valid LMV/HMV driving license gives distinct weightage during interview selection due to the field nature of serving process papers across rural taluks.
  • Single Application Rule: Candidates must submit only one online application covering all claimed reservations. Multiple applications will result in consideration of only the last submitted form, and earlier applications will be invalidated.
  • Document Verification Mandate: Candidates claiming Rural, Kannada Medium, or Category reservations must hold valid certificates issued in prescribed formats (e.g. Form-2 for Rural with BEO counter-signature, Form-D/E/F for caste) as on or before 06.11.2026. Lapsed or post-dated certificates will result in immediate disqualification.
