Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 10th standard (SSLC) or an equivalent examination recognized by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (including CBSE, ICSE, other State Boards Class 10, NIOS secondary course, or KOS secondary course). In addition, candidates must know how to read and write the Kannada language.

Age Limit & Relaxations

As on the last date of application (31/10/2026), minimum age is 18 years. Maximum age limits incorporate a one-time 5-year relaxation per Karnataka Government Order No. DPAR 262 SRR 2025 dated 29.01.2026: General Merit: 40 years (35+5); Categories 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B: 43 years (38+5); SC, ST, and Category-1: 45 years (40+5). Additional age relaxations apply for Persons with Disabilities and Ex-Servicemen as per rules.

Selection is conducted as per the Karnataka Subordinate Courts (Ministerial and Other Posts) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules 2007 and 2021. Candidates are first shortlisted in a 1:10 ratio based on average marks obtained in SSLC (10th standard). Shortlisted candidates are called for an in-person Interview carrying 10 marks. SSLC marks are used strictly for interview shortlisting; final merit ranking is determined solely on the basis of marks scored in the 10-mark interview.

Peons (ಜವಾನರು) in the Karnataka District Judiciary serve under the Principal District and Sessions Judge Court, Gadag, and subordinate taluk courts across the district. Duties encompass maintaining courtroom decorum, carrying case records and daily cause lists between courtrooms and section offices, managing judicial dispatch/dak delivery, attending to judicial officers during proceedings, and ensuring proper order in court halls.
