Educational Qualification

Peon (ಜವಾನ) - 36 Posts:
• Must have passed SSLC (10th Standard) examination or equivalent from a recognized board.
• Must possess the ability to read and write Kannada.
• Appointed on 2 years probation under Karnataka Civil Services (Probation) Rules, 1977.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Minimum 18 years as on 06.11.2026. Maximum age (including 5-year one-time relaxation under GO DPAR 262 SeNeNi 2025):
• General Merit: 40 years (35 + 5)
• Category 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B: 43 years (38 + 5)
• SC, ST, Category-1: 45 years (40 + 5)
Relaxations applicable for Ex-Servicemen, PwD, and widows as per Karnataka Civil Services Rules, 1977.

The selection will be conducted in accordance with the Karnataka Subordinate Courts (Ministerial and Other Posts) (Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules, 2021:
1. Merit Shortlisting (1:10 Ratio): Eligible candidates will be shortlisted strictly based on the percentage of total marks secured in the SSLC (10th standard) qualifying examination in the ratio of 1:10 per vacancy.
2. Interview (10 Marks): Shortlisted candidates must attend an oral interview carrying 10 marks assessing Kannada fluency, court decorum, general knowledge, and physical alertness.
3. Final Merit List: Prepared strictly based on marks obtained in the interview. If two or more candidates obtain equal marks, merit will be resolved based on age seniority.

A Peon (ಜವಾನ) serves as the frontline support in judicial court halls and administrative branches. Core responsibilities include courtroom preparation, docket and case file movement, court calling (announcing case numbers and advocates during open court sessions), serving summons/notices, and assisting judicial officers and court staff. Working hours follow standard court timings (10:00 AM to 05:30 PM), though extended hours are common on heavy board days or during pending urgent order typing.

Stationed at Bengaluru Rural District Court Complex or taluk magistrate courts within Bengaluru Rural judicial district. Inter-district transfers are generally not permissible outside the Bengaluru Rural judicial unit.
