Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications

Educational Qualification

1. Telescope Operator Trainee: 3-year Diploma in Electronics & Communications, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; OR B.E. / B.Tech in relevant disciplines; OR M.Sc. in Physics / Electronics with at least 60% marks.

2. Office Trainee: Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Commerce, Management, Science, Law, or Computer Applications with minimum 55% marks (Engineers are not eligible).

3. Hindi Translator Trainee: Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a subject, OR Master’s Degree in English with Hindi as a subject, with at least 55% marks. Knowledge of Hindi translation is preferred.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Age criteria as on 14.10.2026: 18 to 28 years for Telescope Operator Trainee and Office Trainee; 18 to 35 years for Hindi Translator Trainee. Age relaxations apply as per Government of India rules.

Skill Test

Practical / Hands-on Skill Test at Udaipur Solar Observatory, UdaipurMerit Scored

Selection will be based on academic screening followed by an in-person Skill Test at Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO), Udaipur. Only shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email. Outstation candidates attending the skill test will be paid to-and-fro Sleeper Class train fare or ordinary bus fare by the shortest route on production of tickets.

Prestigious astrophysical research setting at the Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO), Physical Research Laboratory, Department of Space, situated on an island in Lake Fateh Sagar, Udaipur. Telescope Operator Trainees assist scientists in operating optical solar telescopes (such as the Multi-Application Solar Telescope - MAST), optical alignment, solar tracking calibration, and CCD camera data acquisition. Office Trainees assist in institutional administration, file tracking, and logistics, while Hindi Translator Trainees handle official language compliance and translation.
