Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a B.Tech or M.Tech degree in relevant engineering disciplines (Mechanical, Robotics, Production, Instrumentation, Aerospace, Automobile, Chemical, Civil, Electronics, CSE, IT, Engineering Physics, Biotechnology, Material Science, Mining, Food Technology, etc.) OR a Post Graduate Degree (M.Sc./MCA) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Electronics, with a valid GATE or NET qualification. Desirable: Knowledge and skills in machine vision systems, image processing algorithms, and machine learning models for surface defect detection in aerospace components.

Age Limit & Relaxations

The upper age limit is 45 years. Standard relaxations apply for eligible reserved categories as per Government of India norms.

The Junior Research Fellow will work in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Calicut under the ISRO RESPOND sponsored research project titled 'Evaluation of leak-proof surfaces in fluid components using image processing and machine learning techniques' mentored by Dr. Deepak Lawrence K. Research involves designing automated machine vision setups, deploying stereo microscopic cameras, writing Python/OpenCV/PyTorch image processing and defect classification algorithms, and coordinating with ISRO scientists at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC).
