Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) are residential girls' schools established to provide quality education to underprivileged and rural girl students. Full-time teachers, head cooks, assistant cooks, peons, and chowkidars are mandatorily required to reside on school campus 24x7 in the staff residential quarters provided. Duties include academic instruction, remedial teaching, evening self-study mentoring, supervising hostel mess nutrition, ensuring campus security, and student health monitoring. Part-time teachers attend scheduled subject periods.

The appointments are purely contractual for an initial tenure of 11 months and 29 days for the academic session 2026-27. Contract renewal for subsequent academic sessions is subject to satisfactory annual performance appraisal and fund approval from Samagra Shiksha State Project Office, Lucknow, with no right to regular absorption or permanent service.
