Educational Qualification

Post-wise eligibility requirements:

  • Doctor (Full Time - 01 Post): MBBS degree with valid registration in Medical Council / Medical Commission. Must undergo training arranged by MoSJE / NISD within three months of joining. Upper age limit: Not above 50 years.
  • Nurse (02 Posts): Qualified nurse possessing GNM diploma or B.Sc. Nursing degree and willing to undergo training arranged by MSJ&E. Upper age limit: Not above 40 years.
  • Accountant-cum-Clerk (01 Post): Graduation in any discipline with working knowledge of accounts and computers. Upper age limit: Not above 35 years.
  • Yoga therapist / Dance / Music / Art Teacher (Part Time - 01 Post): Diploma in Yoga, Dance, or Music with at least three (03) years of experience in the relevant discipline. Upper age limit: Not above 40 years.
  • Peer Educator (01 Post): Must be literate. Must be an ex-drug user with 1-2 years of verified sobriety, possess communication skills, and agree to refrain from using, buying, or selling drugs while working actively for harm reduction and relapse prevention. Upper age limit: Not above 40 years.
  • Domicile / District Requirement: Preference will be given to local residents of North & Middle Andaman District holding valid Local Certificate and Employment Registration Card.

The Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts (IRCA) at Danapur/Pokadera in Mayabunder operates under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) funded by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE) and managed under the North & Middle Andaman District Administration. The facility provides inpatient detoxification, psychiatric counseling, peer therapy, and community outreach to combat substance abuse across isolated island communities. Staff work in close coordination with District Hospital Mayabunder, local police, Gram Panchayats, and schools. Working in North & Middle Andaman requires cultural adaptability, field travel to interior tribal and coastal settlements, and empathy in managing relapse-prone patients.

Posting & Transfer Policy

The engagement is purely contractual for an initial term, subject to renewal on mutual consent based on performance and continuation of central NAPDDR scheme grants. Selected candidates are liable to serve anywhere across North & Middle Andaman District (including remote and hard-to-reach pockets like Diglipur, Rangat, and outlying islands). The engagement confers no right or claim for regular absorption or permanent government service.
