Educational Qualification

ITI Trade Apprentices: Passed 10th Standard (SSC/SSLC) along with ITI (National Trade Certificate - NTC) in the relevant trade.
Technician (Vocational) Apprentices: Passed Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) in the relevant vocational discipline.
Domicile Requirement: Applicants must be domiciled in Kerala State. Those with prior apprenticeship training in any organisation are ineligible.

Age Limit & Relaxations

The candidate must have completed a minimum of 18 years of age as on 08.10.2026. Relaxations for reserved categories are applicable as per Government of India rules.

Selection is formulated strictly on the basis of academic merit (percentage of marks secured in ITI NTC or VHSE). In case of a tie in percentage marks, relative merit is decided by seniority in age. Shortlisted candidates are intimated via email to appear for original certificate verification at CSL Kochi. Final selection is provisional subject to medical fitness and execution of the apprenticeship contract on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal.

Apprentices undergo comprehensive industrial training across dry docks, hull construction workshops, machine bays, piping shops, and marine electrical facilities. CSL maintains an 18-month valid rank list to backfill subsequent vacancies.

  • Kerala Domicile Requirement: Applicants must strictly be domiciliaries of Kerala State. Candidates from other states are not eligible to apply.

  • No Boarding or Lodging: CSL does not provide any hostel accommodation, boarding, lodging, or travel expenses for document verification or during the 1-year training period.
  • Strict Academic Merit Selection: There is no written test or interview. Selection is made 100% on the basis of marks scored in ITI (for Trade Apprentices) or VHSE (for Vocational Apprentices). Marks entered online must exactly match original mark sheets, or the application will be summarily rejected.
  • One Application Rule: Candidates must submit only one application through the CSL SAP E-Recruitment portal for their specific trade/vocation. Multiple applications will lead to rejection.
