Educational Qualification

M.Sc. in Chemistry (Specialization in physical/Inorganic) / Applied Chemistry / Materials Science / Microbiology with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA/DGPA; OR B.E. / B.Tech. / M.E. / M.Tech. in Materials Science / Material Science and Metallurgical Engineering / Metallurgical Engineering / Ceramics / Chemical / Biotechnology / Biomedical Engineering. Desirable: Experience in materials synthesis or manufacturing and physical / chemical / biological testing of materials.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 35 years as on the date of interview (05/11/2026). Relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped and Female candidates, and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

Project associates work closely with Senior Scientists on funded R&D projects (OLP2320) involving synthesis, characterization, and cell-material interaction studies. The role requires rigorous laboratory work, scientific documentation, and publishing high-impact peer-reviewed research.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Stationed at CSIR-CGCRI campus, Jadavpur, Kolkata, West Bengal. Initial tenure is for 1 year, extendable up to March 31, 2031, contingent on annual performance evaluations and project funding from CSIR. Project personnel are not eligible for permanent absorption into CSIR.

Project Associate - I staff who accumulate two years of verified post-qualification research experience and demonstrate satisfactory performance can be considered for elevation to Project Associate - II (revised stipend of Rs. 28,000/- p.m. + HRA), subject to committee review and grant provisions. Experience gained also provides a solid foundation for Ph.D. registration under AcSIR.
