Educational Qualification

B.Sc. (Physics) or 3 years Diploma in Engineering / Technology in Electronics or Mechanical or Electrical with minimum 60% marks/GPA. Desirable experience in electronics or machine handling, glass handling, electrical, basic computer skills, CAD software, and laboratory skills in optics/fiber optics/optomechanics.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 35 years as on the date of interview (03/11/2026). Relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST/Physically Handicapped/Female candidates, and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

CSIR-CGCRI is a premier national research laboratory under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research located in Kolkata. The Project Assistant will be working on an industry-sponsored R&D project by HFCL Ltd. focused on developing patentable fabrication processes for silica-based nested antiresonant nodeless fibers (NANF) for next-generation high-speed optical communication networks. Daily responsibilities involve clean-room glass preform processing, fiber draw tower operations, optomechanical alignment, and CAD design.
