Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a 3 or 4-year degree in Sericulture; OR 3-year degree + PG Diploma in Sericulture; OR 4-year Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Sciences / Forestry; OR 3-year degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology, Botany, Biology) / Biotechnology with either a PG Diploma in Sericulture OR 1 year of experience in Sericultural project work. Desirable: Work experience in silkworm rearing & grainage / Sericulture (Pre-Cocoon Sector).

Sericulture Assistants assist Senior Technical Assistants and scientific staff across CSB research institutes, Basic Seed Farms (BSF), and Silkworm Seed Production Centres (SSPC). Daily responsibilities center on hands-on pre-cocoon activities including silkworm rearing (Eri and Muga silkworms), grainage operations (moth examination, disease diagnosis, seed production), maintenance of host plant plantations (Som, Soalu, Kesseru), and field extension support to local silk rearers. The work is physically active and field-oriented, particularly in rural and sub-tropical North Eastern environments and Southern grainage units.

The post is purely contractual for an initial tenure not exceeding one (01) year. Primary postings are situated across North Eastern units in Assam (Guwahati, Pailapool, Topatoli, Lakhimpur, Kaliabari, Hahim), Meghalaya (Nongpoh, Tura, Rampora, Mendipathar), Nagaland (Kobulong), Mizoram (Aizawl), and Tamil Nadu (Hosur). While candidates can state three location preferences, final station allocation is made by CSB based on merit and administrative requirements. Intra-tenure transfers are not granted.
