Educational Qualification

Senior Project Associate (SPA) - 1 Post: M.E./M.Tech. in Polymer Engineering / Nanoscience & Nanotechnology / Metallurgical Engineering / Materials Science / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with minimum 03 years of research experience and at least one publication in an SCI journal. Desirable: Hands-on work experience on polyurethane foams.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 40 years as on the crucial date 21st October 2026. Relaxable up to 5 years for SC/ST, Women & PwBD candidates, and 3 years for OBC (NCL) candidates.

Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), located atop the scenic Girinagar plateau overlooking Khadakwasla in Pune, is India's premier defense-oriented deemed university under the Department of Defence R&D (DRDO), Ministry of Defence. The Senior Project Associate works under Dr. T. Umasankar Patro on advanced acoustic dampening foams for naval/aerospace applications. Fellows collaborate in modern materials characterization laboratories equipped with acoustic impedance tubes, DMA, UTM, FE-SEM, and computational fluid/acoustic simulation clusters. Posting is located at DIAT Girinagar, Pune - 411025 (Maharashtra). The tenure is temporary for an initial duration of 1 year or co-terminus with the research project, whichever is earlier. Recruited project staff are encouraged and eligible to register for a Ph.D. at DIAT through institutional channels as per DIAT academic norms.

This is a contractual research project appointment. While the post does not carry any right of permanent absorption in DIAT or DRDO, successfully completing the project with high-impact SCI publications and potential DIAT Ph.D. registration significantly enhances credentials for DRDO Scientist 'C'/'D' lateral recruitments, CSIR laboratories, and premier academic faculty positions.
