Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) serve as crucial grassroot intermediaries between the marginalized rural citizenry and the formal justice delivery system under the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Bihar State Legal Services Authority (BSLSA). In Sheikhpura district, PLVs operate in village clusters, Front Offices, Police Station Legal Aid Clinics, and Jail Legal Aid Clinics. Duties involve spreading legal literacy, assisting poor victims in accessing free legal representation, reporting human rights violations, and facilitating settlements during National Lok Adalats. Work is not on a daily permanent basis; volunteers are called on specific assignment days (earning ₹750/- per day).

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

Selection is purely honorary for a period of one (01) year across village groups and blocks of Sheikhpura district. Existing PLVs must re-apply and may be given preference based on prior performance.

Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

PLV is an honorary community service role rather than a civil service cadre, so no departmental promotional ladders exist. However, active PLVs gain profound grassroots judicial exposure, statutory legal literacy, and official commendation certificates from the District and Sessions Judge, which significantly enhance credibility for subsequent judicial assistant, paralegal, or social sector roles.
Crucial Application Warnings & Eligibility Traps
