IIT Delhi Recruitment 2026 – Apply for Project Scientist Post at School of Public Policy

The Project Scientist is stationed at the School of Public Policy (SPP) within the main campus of IIT Delhi in Hauz Khas, New Delhi, working under the mentorship of internationally acclaimed policy scholar Prof. Ambuj D. Sagar. The research initiative analyzes national labor markets, skill dynamics, and economic transitions using high-frequency online job postings data and large-scale administrative datasets. Daily tasks involve data wrangling, web scraping, and natural language processing (NLP) pipelines in Python, executing causal inference and panel regression models in Stata, typesetting research papers, charts, and policy briefs in LaTeX (Overleaf), and synthesizing policy literature for peer-reviewed academic journals. The work culture is intellectually rigorous, research-driven, and highly collaborative, mirroring leading global academic think tanks.

Stationed at School of Public Policy, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), Hauz Khas, New Delhi – 110016. The appointment is on a temporary project contract basis, initially for one (01) year, renewable annually based on performance evaluation and research project milestones until the completion of the project.

Paid in the structured consolidated pay slab of ₹52,220 – ₹62,350/- per month plus HRA (24% to 30%). While project positions do not lead to regular absorption in the permanent IIT Delhi establishment, working on cutting-edge labor economics and NLP projects under leading faculty serves as a premier launchpad for funded Ph.D. admissions at top global universities (such as Harvard, MIT, LSE, Stanford) or policy economist roles in international organizations like the World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), and RBI.
