Positions are based in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering at IIT Guwahati under the Principal Investigator (Prof. Prabir Barooah). The work is highly interdisciplinary and hands-on, focusing on building an unmanned river water quality monitoring platform. Candidates will work with cutting-edge microcontrollers, field sensors, and autonomous marine/surface robotic systems. Unlike routine corporate IT roles, work culture is research-intensive with rapid prototyping, laboratory bench testing, and field deployment trials on Indian rivers (including the Brahmaputra). Campus accommodation is not provided, so selected staff reside in nearby areas of North Guwahati or commute across the Brahmaputra.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Appointment is purely temporary and contractual on a project basis. Assistant Project Engineer tenure is initially for 6 months, while JRF tenure is initially for 3 months. Appointments are co-terminus with the project or extendable subject to satisfactory performance and availability of project funding. No claim for permanent absorption or regular appointment in IIT Guwahati will be entertained.
