The selection process comprises:

High-innovation bio-design incubation and translational research environment at the School of Innovations in Biomedical Devices and Systems & Inter-Institutional Biodesign Center (SIBDS-IIBC), Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Guwahati. The Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) works closely with Principal Investigator Prof. Subramani Kanagaraj and clinical/engineering mentors to translate proof-of-concept (PoC) medical devices into commercializable prototypes. Responsibilities include product engineering, rapid prototyping, CAD design, biocompatibility testing, regulatory pathway mapping (CDSCO / ISO 13485 medical device rules), filing provisional patents, writing grant proposals (BIG BIRAC, NIDHI-EIR), and business model validation for startup incubation. Standard research and prototyping lab working hours with 24x7 maker-space access.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

Purely temporary appointment for a period of 6 months. Extendable depending on project milestones, prototype maturation, and external grant sanctioning. Does not confer any right to regular absorption or permanent employment in IIT Guwahati.
