National Institute of Technology Silchar (NITS), established in 1967 as a Regional Engineering College and upgraded to an Institute of National Importance, spans a 625-acre green campus along the Silchar-Hailakandi Road in the Cachar district of Assam. The Department of Chemistry and Green Catalysis Lab, led by internationally recognized researcher Dr. S. L. Rokhum, conducts cutting-edge research in microalgae biotechnology, membrane-based photobioreactors, carbon capture, and biomass valorization. The JRF fellow will synthesize bifunctional activated biochars, culture genetically engineered microalgae, evaluate lifecycle emissions, and operate advanced spectroscopy and analytical equipment (GC-MS, FTIR, XRD, and BET surface area analyzers).
