Essential Qualifications & Translation Credential Options:
Option A: Master’s degree from a recognized University in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level.
Option B: Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or medium of examination at degree level.
Option C: Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects of either of the two as the medium of examination and the other as compulsory/elective at degree level.
AND Mandatory Translation Credential: Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa OR minimum two (2) years' documented experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central/State Government offices, including Government of India Undertakings.
Desirable: Matriculation-level knowledge of one language other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution; Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 30 years as on the closing date (28 September 2026). Age relaxation up to 5 years for regular CSIR/Government employees, up to 35 years for widows/divorced women, and 10 to 15 years for PwBD candidates.

Selection Process:
1. Written Examination: Competitive examination comprising two papers:
  • Paper-I (Screening / Qualifying): Objective MCQ exam (1 Hour, 100 Questions, 300 Marks) covering General Intelligence (50 Qs, 150 Marks), Quantitative Aptitude (25 Qs, 75 Marks), and General Awareness (25 Qs, 75 Marks). Marking: +3 marks for correct answer, -1 mark negative for wrong answer. Paper-II evaluated only for candidates securing threshold marks in Paper-I.
  • Paper-II (Final Merit Determinant): Descriptive exam (2 Hours, 300 Marks) assessing paragraph writing in Hindi and English, precis writing in Hindi and English, and translation from English to Hindi and Hindi to English.
2. Final Merit: Formulated strictly on the basis of marks secured in Paper-II.

Application Procedure

  2. The online application portal opens on 2026-08-29 (8:30 A.M.) and closes on 2026-09-28 (05:00 P.M.).
