Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

Superintendent Project Officers (Clinical Psychologists) are posted at the Wellness Centre under the Dean of Students' Welfare (DoSW) across IIT Roorkee's Main Campus and Saharanpur Campus. Counselors work six days a week providing confidential psychotherapy, mental health assessments, crisis de-escalation, and workshop facilitations for B.Tech, M.Tech, and Ph.D. students and institute staff. Due to high-stress competitive academic environments, counselors must remain available on campus for emergency psychological interventions and psychiatric crisis triage when required.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

The position is purely on a contract/project basis under internal resources of IIT Roorkee, initially for a duration of one year (renewable based on project requirements and performance). This is a non-permanent project position and does not confer any entitlement for permanent absorption into institute cadres.

Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

There is no formal departmental promotion cadre for project officers. However, working at an Institute of National Importance (IIT Roorkee) provides top-tier institutional credentials and clinical casework experience, substantially strengthening applications for regular Student Counselor / Senior Psychologist vacancies at IITs, IIMs, AIIMS, and Central Universities.
