The JRF/SRF will work at the Centre of Excellence in Disaster Mitigation and Management (CoEDMM), IIT Roorkee, on a high-visibility ISRO-NRSC sponsored project under the National Information System for Climate and Environmental Studies (NICES) program. The research focuses on comprehensive analysis of glacial lake dynamics in Ladakh and associated Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) hazard risks under changing climate regimes using satellite remote sensing, multi-temporal optical/SAR imagery, digital elevation models, and hydrological-hydraulic modeling. The work involves high-end spatial computing, GIS programming (Python/R, Google Earth Engine), satellite data processing, and potential high-altitude field validation in the trans-Himalayan Ladakh region.

The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the duration of the research project under IIT Roorkee's Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy (SRIC) guidelines. A major incentive is that the selected fellow may be considered for registration into the Ph.D. program at IIT Roorkee, subject to fulfilling institutional entrance requirements.
