Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna CPSE, manages bulk transmission of electricity across India. In Northern Region-III (Lucknow HQ), apprentices are attached to extra-high-voltage (EHV) 400kV/765kV substations and HVDC converter stations across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Trainees gain hands-on technical exposure to power transformer maintenance, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), circuit breakers, protection relays, transmission line maintenance, and substation civil works. Work emphasizes strict adherence to grid safety protocols and electrical clearances.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

Strictly one (1) year under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Non-extendable. Apprenticeship terminates automatically after 12 months with no provision for absorption into regular employment.
