Educational Qualification

Essential Qualifications: First class Master's degree (including integrated PG degree) in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or Sociology;
OR
Second class Master's degree (including integrated PG degree) with Ph.D. in Psychology, Public Health, Social Work, or Sociology.
Desirable Qualification: Prior research experience in mental health and substance use / addictive disorders.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Candidate must be between 18 and 35 years of age as on the closing date (22.09.2026). Standard age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, and candidates with prior ICMR/Govt project experience is admissible as per Government of India / ICMR rules.

The post is stationed at the Department of Psychiatry and National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC), AIIMS New Delhi, under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Yatan Pal Singh Balhara. AIIMS NDDTC is India's apex national centre for substance use disorder research, treatment, and policy formulation. Project Research Scientists engage in high-intensity research protocols, field surveys, community mental health interventions, patient interviews, clinical data management, and coordinating multicentric studies funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Contractual appointment purely temporary under an ICMR-funded research project. The initial appointment is tenure-based, extendable based on project duration, availability of funds, and periodic satisfactory performance appraisal.
