Educational Qualification

Qualifications are governed strictly as per National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines dated 30.06.2025:

  • Professor / Associate Professor / Assistant Professor: Recognized MBBS degree with post-graduate qualification (MD/MS/DNB) in the relevant specialty, along with prescribed teaching and clinical experience and research publications as stipulated by NMC Teacher Eligibility Qualifications.
  • Senior Resident: Recognized MBBS degree along with MD/MS/DNB or post-graduate diploma in the concerned clinical/pre-clinical discipline.
  • Medical Registration: Valid and updated permanent medical registration certificate from NMC or State Medical Council is mandatory.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Faculty Posts (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor): Upper age limit not exceeding 69 years as on the date of interview (maximum tenure up to 70 years).

Senior Resident: Maximum 45 years for clinical departments; maximum 50 years for pre-clinical/para-clinical departments (Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Community Medicine). Age relaxation applicable for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India rules.

Faculty and Senior Residents at the newly established ESIC Medical College and Hospital in Namkum, Ranchi work in a high-volume healthcare and academic environment under the Ministry of Labour and Employment. Duties combine clinical patient care (OPD, IPD, ICU, and emergency services for insured persons and beneficiaries), undergraduate medical teaching, clinical mentoring, and departmental administrative setup for NMC inspections. Working hours follow standard hospital timings with emergency duty rotas. Biometric attendance (manual and AEBAS) is strictly enforced. Private practice of any kind is strictly prohibited, with severe penalties including potential cancellation of NMC/SMC registration for violations.

However, contractual teaching experience at an ESIC Medical College is fully recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and provides strong credentials for regular UPSC or ESIC central recruitment.
