Educational Qualification

Essential: Post Graduate Degree / DNB / PG Diploma in the concerned specialty. In case PG candidates are not available, MBBS with 3 years experience in the relevant specialty may be considered.
DMC Registration: Valid Delhi Medical Council (DMC) registration certificate, or acknowledgement receipt of having applied for DMC registration (valid registration certificate must be submitted within 45 days of joining).
Preference: Extra marks / preference for candidates holding valid life support certificates (BLS and ATLS/ACLS or equivalent).

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 45 years as on the date of interview. Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates (Delhi OBC only).

Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital is a 1,500+ bed premier tertiary care teaching hospital affiliated with University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), University of Delhi, serving as the primary referral government hospital in East Delhi (Shahdara / Dilshad Garden). Senior Residents face intense patient inflow, heavy clinical case volume, round-the-clock emergency duties, trauma triage, and ICU shifts. The exposure provides immense procedural experience, hands-on surgical/medical management, and academic teaching opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate medical students.

Senior Residents are appointed on an ad-hoc basis initially for 44 days, extendable by mutual request and HOD recommendation in 44-day tranches (with a mandatory one-day break) up to a maximum cumulative tenure of 3 years (inclusive of any prior senior residency in other government hospitals), or until regular Senior Residents join through the GNCT of Delhi Central Appointment Committee.

The position is a non-faculty residency training post in Central 7th CPC Pay Level 11 (Rs. 67,700/- + NPA). While ad-hoc residency does not lead to permanent absorption, completing 3 years of Senior Residency is the mandatory eligibility benchmark required by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to apply for Assistant Professor / Specialist medical officer positions in government medical colleges and hospitals.
