Educational Qualification

Primary Eligibility: MBBS with Postgraduate Degree/Diploma/DNB in the concerned specialty (Anaesthesia, Obs & Gynae, Medicine, Radiology) from a recognized University/Institution. Must possess valid registration with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) and must not have completed 3 years of Senior Residency in any recognized institution.
Relaxed Eligibility (Non-PG): In case candidates with PG Degree/Diploma/DNB are not available, MBBS doctors with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in the concerned specialty may be considered under the GNCTD residency scheme on an ad-hoc basis.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 45 years for General/UR candidates as on the date of interview (September 30, 2026). Relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (Delhi), and an additional 5 years for Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan).

Selection is conducted through in-person registration, document verification, and a walk-in interview before the selection board on September 30, 2026. Registration is strictly open between 09:30 AM and 11:30 AM in the Establishment Branch. Priority is given to fresh candidates (those who have not completed 3 years of Senior Residency). If fresh candidates are unavailable, candidates who have completed 3 years of SR will be considered on a separate merit list for a non-renewable 1-year tenure as per GNCTD circular rules. Note that interviews for the Radiology department will be conducted on a daily basis (except Saturday & Sunday) starting 30/09/2026 until vacancies are filled.

Dr. Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan (DHAS) is a 200-bed secondary-level Delhi Government hospital in East Delhi (Karkardooma) catering to dense local populations from Shahdara, East Delhi, and adjoining border districts of Uttar Pradesh. Senior Residents handle heavy OPD footfall, inpatient ward rounds, and 24x7 emergency duties. Rotational shifts include overnight casualty coverage, intensive care management, and emergency surgical/obstetric interventions under consultant guidance.

Appointments are initially made on an ad-hoc basis for 44 days under the Residency Scheme of the Government of NCT of Delhi / Government of India. The tenure is extendable up to a maximum cumulative period of 3 years (inclusive of any prior regular or ad-hoc senior residency service rendered across recognized institutions), with a mandatory 1-day break after every 44 days, subject to satisfactory work and conduct certification from the Head of Department.

Ad-hoc Senior Residency does not carry cadre-based time-scale promotions or regular absorption into the Delhi Health Services (DHS). However, completing 3 years of Senior Residency is an essential qualifying credential for applying to regular Specialist Grade-III / Assistant Professor recruitments through UPSC and state public service commissions.
