Project Associate-II (PAT-II) works in the Water & Earth Systems Division (WESD) at CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur under Project Leader Dr. Raghuvanshi Ram (Scientist-G). The assignment is part of Grant-in-Aid project GAP-3095: 'Impact Assessment of open cast coal mining on groundwater level depletion and contamination and preparation of an integrated management plan'. The day-to-day role involves extensive fieldwork for hydrological and hydrogeological data collection around coal mining sectors, borehole monitoring, field verification of water tables, groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, processing satellite remote sensing and GIS layers, and compiling technical project deliverables.

The engagement is purely temporary, contractual, and co-terminus with project GAP-3095. The initial offer letter is issued for the period for which funds are available, subject to periodic reviews by a review committee and availability of funds. Per CSIR guidelines (CSIR OM No. 5-1(342)/2017-PD dated 02.09.2024 / 18.10.2024), the total cumulative tenure of project staff across CSIR laboratories cannot exceed 6 years (or 7 years under specific exemptions). The contract may be terminated at any time by giving one month's notice, and confers no right or claim for regular absorption in CSIR-NEERI.
