Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold an MBBS degree along with a Post Graduate Degree, DNB, or Diploma in the concerned specialty (Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia, Radiology, or Medicine) from a recognized University or Institution. A valid registration with the Delhi Medical Council (DMC) for both MBBS and the postgraduate qualification (or verifiable documentary proof of having applied for DMC registration) is mandatory at the time of interview. Candidates should not have completed 3 years of Senior Residency in any recognized hospital or institution, subject to relaxation provisions if fresh candidates are unavailable.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Maximum age limit is 45 years as on the date of walk-in interview (30.09.2026) as per H&FW Department GNCTD order dated 26.11.2020. Age relaxation is permissible up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC (Delhi) candidates, and an additional 5 years for Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan).

Selection will be conducted purely through a walk-in interview scheduled on 30.09.2026 at Room No. 201, 2nd Floor, Administrative Block, SDDMASC, Dabri, New Delhi. Appointments are subject to medical fitness and verification of original educational certificates, caste status, internship completion, and DMC registration. A primary merit list will be prepared for fresh PG candidates; in the event of non-availability of fresh candidates, a secondary merit list of doctors who have completed 3 years of Senior Residency will be operated.

Senior Residents actively manage high-volume labor rooms, perform emergency obstetric surgeries (Cesarean sections), provide pediatric intensive care (NICU/PICU), and handle inpatient rounds with rotatory night emergency call duties.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial ad-hoc appointment is for a period of 44 days under the Residency Scheme of the Government of NCT of Delhi, extendable up to a maximum cumulative tenure of 3 years (inclusive of all previous Senior Residency tenures completed in any recognized hospital), subject to satisfactory work and conduct.

Senior Residency is a time-bound clinical fellowship tenure and does not lead to direct cadre promotion. The experience gained is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) as mandatory specialist experience for direct recruitment as Assistant Professor or Medical Officer / Specialist Grade in central and state healthcare establishments.

  • Selected doctors must submit an undertaking affirming they are not employed elsewhere and will not engage in private practice or other government/private healthcare positions during their tenure.
  • Candidates who have completed 3 years of Senior Residency will be considered only under a secondary merit list for a maximum duration of 1 year, and solely if fresh PG candidates are unavailable.
