Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

ICAR-National Rice Research Institute (NRRI, formerly CRRI) in Cuttack, Odisha, is the apex national institute for rice research under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). Under project EAP-469 ('Exploring the carbon sequestration potential of silicate rocks and industrial by products through enhanced weathering and their impact on crop productivity'), the Young Professional-I engages in field trials across farmers' fields, collecting soil and plant tissue samples, conducting laboratory analysis, and preparing technical datasets for the Principal Investigator. The work culture is intellectually stimulating, collaborative, and hands-on, offering valuable exposure to climate-resilient agriculture and carbon sequestration technologies.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

The position is purely contractual and co-terminus with the project (tenure up to 31.03.2027 or till completion of the project, whichever is earlier). It terminates automatically on completion of the tenure and does not confer any entitlement, right, or claim for regular absorption or employment in ICAR-CRRI or ICAR.

Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

As a project-bound Young Professional engagement, there is no formal departmental promotion ladder. However, the tenure provides prestigious research credentials, potential co-authorship in scientific publications, and significant competitive advantage when applying for ICAR Agricultural Research Service (ARS), State Agricultural University faculty roles, or doctoral (Ph.D.) admissions.
