Educational Qualification

Post-wise eligibility criteria:

  • Store Keeper Grade II (01 Post - EWS): 12th pass from a recognized Board or University with 1 year experience in handling stores from a recognized firm, Central/State Govt organization, or PSU.
  • Engine Driver (01 Post - SC): Matriculation pass or equivalent with Certificate of competency as Engine Driver from a recognized Government institute or equivalent. Desirable: 2 years service as Sarang on a vessel of over 400 BHP.
  • Lascar (01 Post - EWS): Matriculation pass or equivalent with 3 years service experience on Boat.
  • Civilian Motor Transport Driver - Ordinary Grade (01 Post - OBC): 10th standard pass with valid driving licence for both heavy and light motor vehicles, knowledge of motor mechanisms, and at least 2 years driving experience.
  • MTS - Peon (01 Post - OBC): Matriculation or equivalent pass with 2 years experience as office attendant.
  • MTS - Chowkidar (01 Post - OBC): Matriculation or equivalent pass with 2 years experience as Chowkidar in any recognized institution or organization.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Age criteria as on closing date (03.11.2026):

  • Store Keeper Grade II: 18 to 25 years
  • CMTD (OG), MTS (Peon), MTS (Chowkidar): 18 to 27 years (relaxable by 3 years for OBC)
  • Engine Driver, Lascar: 18 to 30 years (relaxable by 5 years for SC on reserved post)

Relaxable for Government servants up to 40 years as per Central Government orders.

Shortlisted candidates will undergo document verification and biometric registration followed by an 80-mark pen-paper written examination (1 hour duration, bilingual, objective MCQs, no negative marking). Minimum qualifying marks are 50% for OBC/EWS and 45% for SC. Candidates qualifying the written exam will be shortlisted for trade/skill tests where applicable (e.g. driving test for CMTD, technical test for Engine Driver). Final merit list is formulated strictly based on marks obtained in the written examination.

Store Keepers handle inventory control, procurement vouchers, and naval store ledgers; Engine Drivers and Lascars maintain and operate auxiliary craft, harbour boats, and marine machinery; CMT Drivers operate heavy and light staff vehicles, logistics trucks, and convoy transports; while Multi-Tasking Staff (Peon/Chowkidar) handle internal file movements, dak dispatch, and security watch duties. Store Keeper Grade II can progress to Store Keeper Grade I (Level 4) and Senior Store Keeper (Level 6), while Drivers advance through Ordinary Grade to Grade II, Grade I, and Special Grade (Level 6).
