Educational Qualification

Assistant Professor (Engineering & Technology / Polytechnic): First class or equivalent in B.E. / B.Tech. / B.S. and M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. or Integrated M.Tech. in relevant branch.

Assistant Professor (Applied Sciences & Humanities): Master’s degree with 55% marks in concerned subject plus UGC / CSIR-NET or Ph.D. under UGC 2009/2016 Regulations.

Associate Professor: Ph.D. degree in relevant field with minimum 8 years teaching/research experience and at least 6–7 publications in peer-reviewed / UGC-CARE journals.

Professor & Principal: Ph.D. degree with minimum 10 to 16 years of teaching/research experience, proven research guidance, and high research score.

Desirable: Knowledge of Urdu and Hindi for all teaching posts.

Age Limit & Relaxations

No specific open-market upper age limit; age and service conditions are governed by UGC Regulations and JMI Statutes. Superannuation retirement age is 65 years. Category relaxations apply as per Government of India norms.

The selection protocol is governed strictly by UGC Regulations 2018 and Central University norms:

  1. Stage 1 (Screening & Shortlisting): Applications received via CU-Chayan are vetted by a University Screening Committee. Shortlisting of candidates for interview is conducted strictly according to the 100-point Academic Score rubric in Appendix II (Table 3A) of UGC Regulations 2018 (Graduation, Post-Graduation, M.Phil/Ph.D., NET/JRF, Publications, and Teaching/Research experience).
  2. Stage 2 (Interview & Presentation): Shortlisted candidates appear before the Statutory Selection Committee at JMI. Selection is based 100% on performance in the interview, evaluating subject mastery, research vision, and teaching presentation.
  3. Stage 3 (Final Appointment): Recommendations of the Selection Committee are placed before the Executive Council (EC) of Jamia Millia Islamia for formal approval and appointment.
