Educational Qualification

Senior Research Fellow (SRF) [03 Posts]: B.E. / B.Tech / M.Sc. in Physics / Electronics / Applied Physics / Optics / Photonics with First Division and valid NET/GATE, OR M.E. / M.Tech in Physics / Electronics / Applied Physics / Optics / Photonics with First Division at both Graduate & Post Graduate level. Minimum 02 years mandatory research/teaching/industrial experience in relevant fields.
Junior Research Fellow (JRF) [03 Posts]: B.E. / B.Tech / M.Sc. in Physics / Electronics / Applied Physics / Optics / Photonics with First Division and NET/GATE, OR M.E. / M.Tech in relevant disciplines with First Division at both UG & PG level.
Project Assistant (PA) [01 Post]: Bachelor's degree in any discipline with computer proficiency and in-depth knowledge of MS Office suite. Prior experience in procurement and office file management preferred.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Crucial date for determining the upper age limit is 30th September 2026.
• Senior Research Fellow (SRF): Not to exceed 32 Years.
• Junior Research Fellow (JRF) & Project Assistant (PA): Not to exceed 28 Years.
• Upper age limit is relaxable by 05 years for SC/ST, Women & PwBD candidates, and 03 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

Selection is conducted through a two-stage evaluation: (1) Shortlisting: In case of a large number of applications, the Institute Screening Committee reviews educational qualifications, academic merit, research publications, and relevant domain experience over and above the minimum prescribed criteria to shortlist candidates. (2) Personal Interview: Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview conducted either in-person at DIAT Girinagar, Pune or via video conferencing (virtual mode), as decided by the Institute. Positions are housed in the Department of Applied Physics at DIAT Girinagar, Pune, working under an advanced DRDO-sponsored research project: 'Development of a Photonics Multi-band (0.5-30 GHz) Electronic Warfare (EW) Microwave Receiver System (PMEWRS)'. Fellows collaborate directly with DRDO scientists and faculty experts on mission-critical defence photonics, RF hardware, and signal processing. Selected fellows are encouraged to register for Ph.D. at DIAT as per institute norms.
