Educational Qualification

Officers and officials serving under Central Government, State Governments, Union Territories, Autonomous Bodies, or Statutory Bodies holding analogous posts on regular basis or possessing requisite regular service in feeder pay levels with degrees in Law, Computer Science/IT, Accounts/Commerce, Library Science, or General Graduation.

Age Limit & Relaxations

The upper age limit for appointment on deputation basis shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications (10.10.2026). Fresh candidates, retired officials, or persons serving in private sector/organizations are not eligible.

NALSA is the apex statutory body responsible for nationwide legal aid delivery, Lok Adalats, and legal literacy under the Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987. Staff work in close coordination with the Supreme Court of India, State Legal Services Authorities (SLSAs), and the Ministry of Law and Justice. The operational culture is dynamic and mission-oriented with standard Central Government office hours, handling policy formulation, budget allocation, legal grievance handling, and technology-driven legal aid monitoring.

Posting & Transfer Policy

The deputation tenure is initially for 3 years, extendable based on performance and mutual consent of the lending organization and NALSA. Postings are based at NALSA Headquarters in New Delhi (Administrative Buildings Complex, Supreme Court of India / Jaisalmer House, Mansingh Road). Premature reversion can be effected by either side with a 3-month notice period.

Deputationists maintain their lien and substantive seniority in their parent government department. Pay and promotions in the parent cadre continue under normal rules.
