Educational Qualification

(1) Project Research Scientist-I: Ph.D. in Life Sciences or Allied Sciences from a recognized university. Desirable: Hands-on experience in cell culture, characterization, and cryopreservation of stem cells. (2) Technical Assistant: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Allied Sciences, or Computational System Biology from a recognized university or equivalent. Desirable: Hands-on experience in cell culture and animal handling.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 35 years for Project Research Scientist-I and 50 years for Technical Assistant as of the application closing date (09-10-2026). Age relaxation is admissible as per Government of India rules.

BRIC-National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) in Gachibowli, Hyderabad is an autonomous apex institute under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The project staff will be deployed on the flagship national initiative: 'Animal Stem Cell Biobank DBT-NIAB: ASCB: The Nation’s First Animal Stem Cell Repository'. Day-to-day responsibilities encompass primary animal tissue harvesting, isolation, expansion, molecular characterization, quality control, sterility testing, and ultra-low temperature liquid nitrogen cryobanking of livestock and companion animal stem cells. The laboratory environment operates under strict Biosafety and cleanroom guidelines with world-class bioreactors, flow cytometers, and imaging suites.

Posting & Transfer Policy

The appointments are purely temporary and on a contractual project basis. The tenure is initially for 1 year, extendable on an annual basis subject to periodic evaluation of work progress and co-terminus with project funding. The positions carry no entitlement to regular absorption or permanent cadre appointments at NIAB.
