Educational Qualification

• Junior Research Fellow (JRF): First-class B.E./B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Electrical and Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering (EIE) with a valid GATE score. Preference will be given to candidates possessing M.E./M.Tech. in Power Electronics / Power Electronics & Drives or equivalent (First class with minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA).
• Project Associate - I: First-class B.E./B.Tech. in EE, EEE, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or EIE. Preference given to candidates with M.E./M.Tech. in Power Electronics / Power Electronics & Drives or equivalent (First class with minimum 60% or 6.5 CGPA). Valid GATE score is not mandatory for Project Associate - I.

Age Limit & Relaxations

The upper age limit is 32 years as on the closing date of application (30 September 2026). Age relaxation of 5 years is admissible for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC candidates as per Government of India guidelines.

The position is based in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy), working under Principal Investigator Dr. Shelas Sathyan. The research is funded under the ANRF Advanced Research Grant (ARG) for developing high-performance reconfigurable bidirectional DC-DC converters for electric vehicles and DC microgrids. Daily responsibilities involve converter topology simulations, modulation strategy development, PCB layout fabrication, and hardware bench testing. This is a fixed-term research project position. Candidates appointed as JRF receive ₹37,000 + HRA for the first two years, with enhancement to ₹42,000 + HRA in the third year upon successful assessment. Non-GATE appointees as Project Associate - I receive ₹30,000 + HRA for two years and ₹33,000 + HRA in the third year. Successful completion significantly strengthens profiles for doctoral degrees, post-doctoral fellowships, and R&D roles in power electronics industries.
