Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

Support Persons under the POCSO Act are frontline child-rights facilitators engaged by the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Krishnagiri. The primary duty is to accompany and support child victims of sexual abuse throughout the criminal justice process—from FIR registration at All Women Police Stations (AWPS), statement recording under Section 164 CrPC/BNSS before the magistrate, medical examination at government hospitals, to testifying in Special POCSO Courts. Support Persons act as a compassionate liaison between the child's family, police, healthcare personnel, and legal aid counsel, ensuring the child does not suffer secondary trauma. The work requires high emotional resilience, empathy, irregular on-call hours during emergency victim rescues, and strict adherence to child confidentiality.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

Empanelment is on an ad-hoc, honorarium basis for an initial term of 3 years under the Tamil Nadu Social Welfare and Women's Rights Department guidelines. Remuneration is strictly case-based: up to ₹10,000/- per case (inclusive of travel and out-of-pocket expenses) disbursed upon completing case milestones. No fixed monthly salary, stipend, or retainer fee is paid when cases are not assigned. The engagement does not confer any entitlement to regular employment, government employee status, or absorption into state services.

Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

As an empanelled expert/professional role, there is no formal departmental promotion hierarchy within the government cadre. However, active experience as a certified POCSO Support Person provides invaluable field credentials for selection into statutory bodies such as the Child Welfare Committee (CWC Member), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB Member), Protection Officer in DCPU/ICPS, or social work specialists in UNICEF and national child protection NGOs.
Crucial Application Warnings & Eligibility Traps

Avoid common application rejection triggers, photo/signature guidelines, and certificate validity windows.

  • Case-Linked Remuneration: Applicants must note that remuneration is strictly per-case up to ₹10,000/- based on case allocation; it is not a fixed monthly salaried job. If no case is allocated, no honorarium is payable.

  • Mandatory Qualification Stream: Applicants must hold recognized degrees specifically in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Law, Child Development, Education, or related social sciences. Unrelated educational backgrounds will be rejected during initial scrutiny.
  • High Psychological Resilience Required: The role involves continuous exposure to severe child trauma, police investigations, and hostile courtroom cross-examinations, requiring sound emotional stability and professional ethics.
