Essential Qualifications:
• Master's degree with at least 55% marks (without rounding off or grace marks) in Economics / Applied Economics from an Indian University or equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Must have cleared UGC/CSIR-NET or Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET / SLET), OR awarded Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009/2016 (candidates registered prior to July 11, 2009 exempted subject to five UGC conditions).
OR
• Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked among top 500 in World University Rankings (QS, THE, or ARWU Shanghai).

Selection will be conducted through a Walk-in-Interview on 22/10/2026 at the Department of Economics, School of Social Sciences, Gujarat University, Ahmedabad. Candidates report between 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM for registration, followed by certificate verification. If the number of candidates is large, an objective MCQ screening test based on UGC NET/GSET Economics syllabus and/or a teaching demonstration may be conducted. The final selection will be made based on interview performance before the selection committee. There is no prior online examination.

The engagement automatically ceases on completion of 10 months without requiring further orders. Crucially, the fixed consolidated stipend of ₹45,000/- per month is NOT paid during Diwali and Summer Vacation periods. Appointees must join within 7 days of receiving the appointment order. Services can be terminated by either side with one month's notice or payment of one month's salary in lieu thereof. The contract confers no right to regularization or absorption against grant-in-aid sanctioned posts.
