Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Postgraduate degree (M.Sc.) in Genetics / Plant Breeding / Genetics & Plant Breeding / Agricultural Botany from a recognized University or Institute. Desirable: Experience in wheat hybridization, DNA extraction, PCR operation, molecular cytogenetic assays, rust/disease screening, and statistical data analysis.

Age Limit & Relaxations

ICAR-IARI Regional Station at Amartara Cottage, Shimla is a historic research center renowned for cereal rust research and temperate wheat breeding. The Young Professional-II works on an Ignite Life Science Foundation funded project focused on pre-breeding for climate-resilient and disease-resistant wheat by introgressing rye chromatin into wheat backgrounds. Daily duties combine wet-lab experiments (DNA extraction, PCR genotyping, molecular cytogenetics) and seasonal field trials (crossing blocks, rust inoculations, phenotypic evaluation) in the temperate climate of Shimla.

The engagement is purely contractual for an initial tenure of one (1) year or until project completion, whichever is earlier, extendable subject to performance and funding availability.
