Junior Engineers (Civil & Electrical) at NIT Kurukshetra operate under the Estate / Engineering Maintenance Section within the Golden Jubilee Administrative complex. Civil JEs oversee campus infrastructure planning, preparation of BOQs/estimates, maintenance of institutional academic blocks, student hostels, residential quarters, roads, sewage, and rainwater harvesting systems, inspection of construction materials per BIS standards, and verification of contractor measurement books (MBs). Electrical JEs supervise HT/LT substations, transformers, DG sets, rooftop solar plants, centralized UPS systems, street lighting, and campus electrical safety compliance with CEA regulations. The role involves a balance of on-site field inspections and administrative desk approvals.

The engagement is purely temporary and contractual under Statute 28(2) of the First Statutes of NITSER Act, 2007 for a fixed term of one (01) year. The contract may be extended for up to two additional years (maximum total tenure of 3 years) subject to satisfactory performance, institutional requirement, and written approval of the Competent Authority. Expiry of the contractual term does not confer any right, vested interest, or entitlement to permanent regularization, absorption, or seniority at NIT Kurukshetra.
