Educational Qualification

Qualifications are governed by the Recruitment Rules (2019) for Non-Teaching staff in NITs:

  • Superintendent: First Class Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree (minimum 50% marks) in any discipline with computer proficiency.
  • Technical Assistant: First Class B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Electronics, CSE, Mechanical) or First Class B.Sc./M.Sc. in relevant discipline.
  • Technician: 10+2 with Science (min. 60% marks) OR 10+2 with 50% marks and ITI OR 10th with 60% marks and 2-year ITI OR 3-year Diploma in Engineering.
  • Technician (SG-II): 10+2 / ITI / Diploma / Degree with documented experience in CSE, Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Library.
  • Junior Assistant: 10+2 from a recognized board with minimum typing speed of 35 w.p.m. in English and computer proficiency.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Maximum age limit for direct/contractual recruitment is 30 years for Superintendent and Technical Assistant, and 27 years for Technician and Junior Assistant, as per NIT Recruitment Rules (2019). Maximum age limit for deputation is 56 years as on the closing date (04/11/2026). Standard age relaxations apply for SC/ST (5 years), OBC (3 years), PwD (10 years), and Ex-Servicemen as per Government of India guidelines.
