Educational Qualification

Candidates must fulfill one of the following educational qualification paths:
• B.E. / B.Tech. in Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or allied engineering branches AND M.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. (by Research) in relevant disciplines / Environmental Engineering.
• M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Bioinformatics, or Life Sciences AND M.Tech. in Biotechnology / Environmental Engineering.
• M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Bioinformatics, or Life Sciences.
Minimum Academic Percentage: Minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL (55% or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD); OR B.E./B.Tech. with minimum 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA for GEN/EWS/OBC-NCL (65% / 7.0 CGPA for SC/ST/PwD).
Preference: Candidates with qualified GATE / CSIR-UGC NET / DBT-JRF / ICMR-JRF and hands-on experience in heavy metal extraction, microbial cell culture, bioreactors, and AI/Machine Learning.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 30 years as on the last date of application (03.10.2026).
• Upper age relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically challenged (PwD) candidates.

National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal) is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education. The project, sponsored by the Ministry of Mines under India's Critical Mineral Mission, is titled 'Nickel Recovery from Mine Tailings and Suspended Dust In and Around Mines'. JRFs will work under Dr. Shyam Perugu (Biotechnology) and Prof. Chinthala Sumanth (Civil/Environmental Engineering). The research entails mining site visits for sampling, advanced laboratory experimentation (AAS, ICP-MS, bioreactor fabrication, microbial bioleaching), scientific article drafting, and deploying AI algorithms for process modeling. The laboratory environment is technically rigorous, supportive, and multidisciplinary.
