Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in any Engineering discipline (B.E. / B.Tech) from a recognized University/Institute.
Professional Experience: Minimum 20 years of professional experience in rail-based transportation systems, of which at least 13 years must be in an executive grade in a rail-based MRTS managing train operations, Operations Control Centre (OCC), Depot Control Centre (DCC), and stations. Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience as Head Operations OR 8 years of experience as Deputy Head Operations in underground Rail-based MRTS.
Cadre & Grade Eligibility: Officers working in or retired from CDA Pay Level 14 (Rs. 1,44,200–2,18,200) / Level 13A / Level 13 as per 7th CPC, OR IDA scale Rs. 1,20,000–2,80,000 / 1,00,000–2,60,000 / 90,000–2,40,000.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit as on 01.09.2026:
• Deputation: Maximum 58 years.
• Post Retirement Contractual Engagement (PRCE): Maximum 65 years.
• Contractual Engagement: Maximum 50 years (JGM), 52 years (AGM), 57 years (GM).

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been awarded the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contract for Mumbai Metro Line-3 (Aqua Line: Colaba–Bandra–SEEPZ), which is Mumbai's first fully underground metro corridor. As Head Operations (HOD level), the selected senior officer will direct end-to-end daily operations across underground stations, tunnels, rolling stock, train control, OCC (Operations Control Centre), and depot facilities. The work environment is high-stakes, 24x7 operational, and demanding, requiring coordination with MMRCL, state government authorities, civil contractors, safety regulators (CMRS), and third-party facility vendors.

Posting & Transfer Policy

The initial posting is based in Mumbai for the O&M work of Mumbai Metro Line-3. On Deputation, the normal tenure is 5 years (extendable up to 7 years). On Contractual Engagement, the tenure is 3 years (extendable). On Post Retirement Contractual Engagement (PRCE), the tenure is initially for 1 year (renewable annually up to age 65). The officer is also liable to be transferred to any DMRC project across India or overseas.
