Educational qualification and experience criteria:

  • Essential Qualification: Degree from a recognized University/Institute along with Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism / Mass Communication; OR Degree in Journalism / Mass Communication from a recognized University/Institute.
  • Language Proficiency: Proficiency in the concerned language (Telugu / English / Hindi at RNU Hyderabad).
  • Experience: At least 03 (three) years of professional experience in the relevant field of journalism, news editing, or television broadcasting (casual assignees of Prasar Bharati must submit a Self-Declaration Form).

Age Limit & Relaxations

Candidate must be below 35 years of age as on the date of notification (23.09.2026). A 10-year upper age relaxation is admissible for casual assignees who are on the current panel of any RNU/DDK/Station of Doordarshan/Akashvani continuously for at least 5 years.

The position is stationed at the Regional News Unit (RNU) of Doordarshan Kendra (DDK) Hyderabad, functioning under DD News, Prasar Bharati. The Copy Editor operates in a high-intensity 24/7 broadcast television newsroom environment. Responsibilities involve writing news stories, editing video visuals, preparing broadcast rundowns, managing on-screen graphic elements, tracking breaking news developments, conceptualizing special feature programmes, and editing field reports submitted by correspondents. Work schedules involve shift duties, including early morning, late night, and weekend shifts commensurate with broadcast programming cycles.

The engagement is purely contractual for a duration of one (01) year on a full-time basis, subject to periodic reviews, performance evaluations, and operational requirements of Prasar Bharati.
