Social Workers in the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) at Ranipet Collectorate (4th Floor, F-Block) operate under the District Child Protection Officer and the Department of Social Defence / Social Welfare & Women Empowerment, Government of Tamil Nadu under Mission Vatsalya. The role centers on child protection, care, rehabilitation, and social reintegration of Children in Need of Care and Protection (CNCP) and Children in Conflict with Law (CCL). Daily responsibilities include conducting Social Investigation Reports (SIR) for the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), inspecting child care institutions (CCIs) and orphanages, tracking non-institutional alternative care (foster care, sponsorship, adoption via CARA), responding to child marriage and child labor alerts reported via Childline 1098, and providing psychosocial counseling to traumatized children and families across Ranipet district.

Stationed at District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), 4th Floor, F-Block, District Collectorate, Ranipet, Tamil Nadu – 632401. The appointment is on a contractual consolidated pay basis initially for a period of one (01) year, renewable annually subject to performance evaluation, state fund sanction, and Mission Vatsalya project continuation.

Paid a fixed monthly consolidated remuneration of ₹18,536/- per month under Mission Vatsalya / Tamil Nadu Social Defence norms. While contractual district society roles do not offer direct absorption into the regular Tamil Nadu Ministerial or Social Defence Service cadre, holding official experience as a DCPU Social Worker provides valuable credentials and weightage for regular Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) Social Welfare Officer, Probation Officer, and Assistant Director recruitments.
