Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold any of the following qualifications from a recognized University or Institute as on 26.10.2026:

  • 3-year or 4-year full-time Bachelor's Degree in Sericulture; OR
  • 3-year full-time Degree + PG Diploma in Sericulture; OR
  • 4-year full-time Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Sciences or Forestry; OR
  • 3-year full-time Degree in Biological Sciences (Zoology / Botany / Biology) or Biotechnology with either a PG Diploma in Sericulture OR 1 year of documented experience in Sericultural project work.
  • Desirable: Practical work experience in silkworm rearing and grainage (Pre-Cocoon Sector).

Selection to the contractual posts of Sericulture Assistant (SA) will be based strictly on the performance of eligible candidates in the Personal Interview. Sericulture Assistants at CSB-CMER&TI (Lahdoigarh, Jorhat) and its nested stations (RSRS Boko, REC Ahmedabad) work closely alongside Senior Technical Assistants in both scientific laboratories and open-field rearing farms. Day-to-day duties involve hands-on silkworm rearing, disease-free layings (dfls) grainage processing, maintenance of host plant plantations (Som, Soalu, Castor), and conducting technical extension with local rearers in rural clusters across Assam and Gujarat. The working environment is research-oriented with intensive outdoor field activity during active commercial rearing and seed seasons.

The engagement is purely contractual for an initial tenure of One (01) Year.
