Educational Qualification

Senior Project Fellow (1 Post): 1st class M.Sc. in Forestry / Agriculture / Biotechnology with 2 years research experience in Plant Forestry/Biotechnology.
Project Assistant (1 Post): 1st class B.Sc. in Forestry / Agriculture / Life Sciences.
Junior Research Fellow / Junior Project Fellow (2 Posts): 1st class M.Sc. in Marine Biology, Marine Sciences, Botany, Forestry, Plant Sciences, Life Sciences, Agriculture or related disciplines. Candidates with CSIR-UGC NET (including LS), GATE, or ICAR-NET qualify for JRF (₹37,000 + HRA); non-NET candidates are considered for JPF (₹24,000 + HRA).
Field Assistant (4 Posts): 1st class B.Sc. in Botany / Zoology / Environmental Science / Agriculture / Forestry.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 32 years for Senior Project Fellow, and 28 years for Junior Research Fellow, Junior Project Fellow, Project Assistant, and Field Assistant as on 01/06/2026. Age relaxation of up to 5 years is admissible for SC/ST, Women, Divyangjan (PwBD), and OBC candidates.

ICFRE-Tropical Forest Research Institute (TFRI) Jabalpur is a premier national forestry research institute under MoEFCC. Project staff (SPF, JRF/JPF, PA, FA) work on externally funded time-bound scientific research projects (National Bamboo Mission and Department of Biotechnology). Work involves a blend of advanced laboratory work (plant tissue culture, biochemical assays, molecular profiling) at the TFRI Jabalpur campus and extensive field surveys—such as germplasm collection of threatened bamboo in Central India, and long-duration coastal fieldwork and mangrove biomass/carbon sequestration sampling across Maharashtra coastal sites.

Appointments are purely temporary and strictly co-terminus with the respective project durations (Project 297/NBM runs through 2025-2028; Project 303/DBT runs up to May 2028).
