Educational Qualification

Ph.D. in the relevant or equivalent discipline with First Class (minimum 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA) in all preceding degrees (Bachelor’s degree onwards). For Engineering disciplines: B.E./B.Tech. and M.E./M.Tech. in relevant discipline (candidates with direct Ph.D. after B.Tech. from reputed institutions are also eligible). For Mathematics: First Class at UG and PG levels with Ph.D. Relevant post-Ph.D. experience and publications in SCI journals required as per the Four-Tier Flexible Faculty Structure.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Fresh appointment beyond the age of 60 years is discouraged except in the case of faculty with exceptionally brilliant research careers and ongoing or approved externally funded research projects. Age determination date is the closing date of online application (21.11.2026).

Selection will be made on the recommendations of the duly constituted Statutory Selection Committee and approved by the Board of Governors (BoG). The Screening Committee shortlists eligible applicants based on academic credentials, NIRF/QS ranking of graduating institutes, research publications in SCI/SCIE journals with impact factors, sponsored research projects, and patents. Shortlisted candidates must appear for a teaching presentation/demonstration and personal interview at IIIT Sonepat (no TA paid).

IIIT Sonepat is an autonomous Institute of National Importance established under an Act of Parliament on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model involving the Ministry of Education (GoI), Government of Haryana, and industry partners. Faculty members are tasked with cultivating high-impact technical education and research across cutting-edge IT specializations (such as Generative AI, High-Performance Computing, Machine Learning, Data Analytics, VLSI, 5G/6G RF Systems, and Applied Mathematics). While academic activities are temporarily hosted at the modern transit campus at IIT Delhi Sonepat Campus in Rajiv Gandhi Education City (Rai, Sonipat), transition is planned to the institute's permanent campus at Kilohrad, Sonepat. The work environment provides faculty with significant pedagogical autonomy, active participation in establishing specialized teaching laboratories, and opportunities for industrial consulting and MeitY/DST research sponsorships.

Initial appointment for Assistant Professor Grade II is contractual under the Four-Tier Flexible Faculty Structure (typically up to 3 years at Pay Level 10 or 11), with regular tenure-track elevation to Assistant Professor Grade I (Pay Level 12) upon acquiring required post-Ph.D. experience, research publications, and sponsored projects. Associate Professor posts are permanent direct recruitments at Pay Level 13A2. The campus location is at Sonipat, Haryana (Rai/Kilohrad, NCR region, ~45 km from New Delhi), providing excellent connectivity to academic and industrial hubs across the National Capital Region.

Career progression follows the Ministry of Education Four-Tier Flexible Faculty Structure: Assistant Professor Grade II (Pay Level 10, GP 6000) -> Assistant Professor Grade II (Pay Level 11, GP 7000 after 1 year) -> Assistant Professor Grade I (Pay Level 12, GP 8000 after 3 years post-Ph.D. or 6 years total) -> Associate Professor (Pay Level 13A2, GP 9500 after 6 years post-Ph.D.) -> Professor (Pay Level 14A). All pay band movements require open selection committee review and BoG approval.

  • NOC and Vigilance Clearance: Candidates currently employed in Government, Semi-Government, PSUs, or CFTIs must submit a formal No Objection Certificate (NOC) and Vigilance Clearance Certificate (VCC) or formal undertaking at the time of application.
