Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess:
(i) M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc in Mechanical, Biomedical, Production, Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or relevant specialization; OR
(ii) B.Tech / B.E. or Integrated Professional Degree in relevant field with minimum CGPA of 7.5 on a 10-point scale and qualified GATE examination.
Desirable: Experience in extrusion-based 3D printing/additive manufacturing, CAD/FEA simulation, biomaterials, scaffold fabrication, piezoelectric materials, or self-healing functional polymers.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Candidate should not be over 33 years of age as on the date of advertisement (19/09/2026). Age relaxation is applicable for SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped candidates as per Government of India rules.

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) Bhopal is an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The Department of Mechanical Engineering hosts advanced fabrication and research laboratories including CAD/CAM, smart manufacturing, and materials characterization setups. Under this DST-ANRF funded project ('3D-Printed Dual-Functionally Graded Scaffold with Piezoelectric and Self-Healing Properties for Autonomous Bone Regeneration'), the JRF will operate at the intersection of mechanical engineering, materials science, and biomedical tissue engineering. Primary responsibilities include extrusion-based 3D printing of polymer-composite scaffolds, finite element analysis (FEA), piezoelectric characterization, self-healing performance testing, and drafting scientific manuscripts. Laboratory hours are intensive and research-driven, with significant autonomy and direct mentorship under the Principal Investigator (Dr. Emon Barua).

Initial appointment is for 2 years as Junior Research Fellow (JRF), extendable for a 3rd year as Senior Research Fellow (SRF) upon satisfactory research progress review. The total project duration is 36 months, co-terminus with the DST-ANRF grant. The appointment is purely on a temporary/contract basis and confers no claim for regular or permanent absorption in MANIT Bhopal. A major add-on benefit is that the selected candidate is eligible to register for a Ph.D. degree at MANIT Bhopal under institutional norms.

The fellow starts as JRF at ₹37,000/- + HRA per month during the 1st and 2nd years. Subject to assessment of research output and publication progress by an internal assessment committee, the candidate is upgraded to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) in the 3rd year with an enhanced fellowship of ₹42,000/- + HRA per month.
